So for my first blog, I wanted to tell y’all a little bit about myself and what it means to be Ambitious for Beauty. One day as I was working for a major department store while studying for my masters (your girl is smart-smart), it dawned on me that something was missing from the adults past the age of 25. Ambition. You would be surprised how many conversations I had with grown-folks who were satisfied with the bare minimum. But then wanted to be praised, even have a party for themselves because they completed the basics in life. What I mean is they went to work, paid bills, took care of themselves (physically/emotionally); but that is it. No dreams. No goals. No ambition to learn, grow, or be a better person. I was floored, shocked even. This world is full of beauty that needs to be explored. Maybe because I am a life-long-learner, I want to grow. I do not want to be in my 60's with people saying, ‘You can’t teach that old dog new trick.’ OH NO! I want to be sharp well into my 90’s.
Now don’t get me wrong, life is a roller coaster. The ups will have you feeling like you're on the top of the world. While the dips, twists and turns make you second guess life choices. I like to think of those times as a time to recoup, regroup, and take care of my well being. In those times, it makes sense why people do not have the energy to do more than to exist. However, when that season passes, what is wrong with getting back to doing more. Growth is beautiful. That is where I had the idea to help those around me find that ambition again. Or least keep up with it.
One day I was sitting at work just thinking about my depressed age group. And I thought, my people need some encouragement. I wish they could feel loved, supported, encouraged to know they are B-E-A-Utiful. So I did some reading, studied about emotional health. I took the training from my counseling program and intertwined it with my motivational words and created Ambitious for Beauty. Because it takes courage to love who you are, seek new adventures, embrace change, all the while letting the whole world know that beauty is a gift.
So let's take this journey together. I am going to post my adventures of trying new things (trips, restaurants, recipes, etc.) and taking the time to love me (healthy eating, working out, crafting, etc.) I hope you enjoy the content and let me know what do you do daily to show your beauty.
